Pavel Banya
Pavel Banya is a spa resort of national and international significance. The town of Pavel Banya is located in the central part of Bulgaria, near the town of Kazanlak (22 km away), at a 185-km distance from Sofia. It is situated in the Kazanlak valley, between the Stara Planina and Sredna gora mountains, at a 400 meters altitude.
The climate in Pavel Banya is characterized as temperate continental. The average annual air temperature is around 10.8°C (51.44 °F). Summers are moderately warm and winters are mild, with little snow precipitation. These particular climatic features of the resort make perfect conditions for its year-round use.
The area of Pavel Banya is extremely rich in mineral springs – it comprises a total of 9 hydrothermal sources. The mineral water in Pavel Banya is hyperthermal and mildly alkaline, with the following compounds: radon, hydro-carbonate-sodium, fluorine, silicon.
The temperature of the mineral water from the springs in Pavel Banya varies between 25 and 61.4 degrees Celsius (77 °F - 142.52 °F). Seven of the springs have a temperature of over 50 degrees Celsius (122 °F). The healing effect of this mineral water is distinguished in three ways, namely: thermal, mechanical and chemical.
The mineral water of Pavel Banya is known for its microbiological purity and excellent taste. It is used for drinking, but only after a doctor’s prescription. As a healing natural mineral water containing fluoride, it is being bottled and is recommended as means for caries prophylaxis.
The resort of Pavel Banya has established as a health and recreation center for treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system, orthopedic-traumatological diseases, central and peripheral nervous system disorders.
The highest efficiency is achieved in the rehabilitation of vertebral column diseases (disc hernias, intervertebral disc damages, radiculopathy, spondylolisthesis, spondylarthrosis etc.), also after traumatic injuries, slow healing bone fractures, as well as after spinal surgery.
Excellent results are also achieved in the treatment of peripheral nervous system inflammatory diseases (neuritis, plexitis, neuralgia), and with some chronic gynecological disorders.
