Lighthouse Golf Resort & Spa has opened for visitors in the beginning of September, 2008. Being in a close proximity to the town of Balchik, it is located on the cliffs that rise above the Black Sea. It comprises an area of approximately 1 sq. km and offers a professional 18 holes course, designed by the worldwide famous golf player Ian Woosnam. Woosnam is a legend in the world of golf and he is still playing in Europe, America and Asia. As a captain of the European team he wins the Ryder Cup in 2006. He is acknowledged to be one of the best English golf players. He also has a proven talent in designing many new courses around the world. The newest of these projects, in cooperation with European Golf Design (EGD), is the Lighthouse Golf course.
In the construction of this golf course have been used the newest technologies both for designing the irrigation and drainage systems, aiming at consumption optimization, as well as recycling, and for using new weed species from the agricultural research centers. All this is a combination of sports achievements and environmental care. The two golf courses and the facilities are intended for golfers who would like to play the whole year round, as well as to optimizing the golf experience in this unique place.

The Lighthouse Golf course appeals to both proffesional and amateur golf players.
