Nessebar is situated on a tiny island near the “Sunny Beach” resort 37km away from Burgas (the journey from Burgas airport takes approximately 40 minutes). Nessebar is one of the oldest towns in Europe (it was founded by the Thracians in the late Bronze Age), in 1983 it was proclaimed a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO and is protected by this organization. Old Nessebar is a real treasure box full of architectural jewels. Over 40 churches were built here in the Middle Ages. Some of them remain to this day. There is an archeological museum, which houses a wonderful collection of antique and medieval art located next to the remains of the old city wall at the main entrance to the city. If you’re staying in one of the comfortable hotels in the new part of Nessebr, then the old town is the perfect place for romantic evening strolls or for walks in a good company. Very close to Nessebar (only 3 km. away) is the town of Ravda, which is traditionally associated with children’s and teenager’s holidays. Today this resort offers first-class hotels; there is a wonderful wide sandy beach. The great thing about Ravda is its proximity to Nessebar and “Sunny Beach”, which allows you to combine quiet relaxation with various attractions a big modern resort has to offer.
